Zachary Lloyd is a PhD Student in Music Theory at Florida State University.

Currently a third-year Music Theory Doctoral student at Florida State University, Zachary hales from the Piedmont Region of North Carolina. Zachary is an active researcher and teacher within the field of Music Theory, and looks forward to rejoining the performance scene in pit orchestras when musical theatre returns.

Zachary’s research areas include rhythm and meter studies and form in popular music and musical theatre genres. He is currently working within the intersections of meter, form, and personal identity in works for the theatre. Zachary also enjoys an active research agenda within Music Theory Pedagogy.

Prior to his education at Florida State University, Zachary earned a M.M. Theory at Michigan State University in Lansing, MI (2020), and a B.M. Performance concentration in Theory/Composition from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC (2018).
